The multifaceted nature of the data necessitated a narrative approach to reporting findings, structured by the kind of occupational therapy utilized and its influence on parenting outcomes. Observational evidence strongly suggests a positive association between parental occupational therapy (OT) levels, parental touch, parental gaze, and the synchronicity of affect, all of which significantly influence the observer-coded parent-infant bonding. The observed occupational therapy levels were identical for fathers and mothers, although occupational therapy's influence was to cultivate affectionate parenting in mothers and stimulatory parenting approaches in fathers. There was a positive relationship found between parental occupational therapy skill levels and the occupational therapy skill levels of their children. Family members and healthcare providers should encourage more positive, interactive play and touch between parents and their children, leading to stronger parent-child relationships.

Our previous research established that chronic nicotine exposure of male C57BL/6J mice affected the hippocampal functioning of their F1 offspring, impacting associated learning, memory, nicotine-seeking, nicotine metabolic processes, and basal stress hormones. In order to determine the germline mechanisms contributing to these multigenerational traits, this study sequenced small RNAs from the sperm of males that were chronically exposed to nicotine using our pre-established animal model. The impact of nicotine exposure on sperm miRNA expression was evident in 16 specific miRNAs. A critical analysis of the existing research on these transcripts pointed to a significant influence on both psychological stress regulation and learning capabilities. Following exploratory enrichment analysis, mRNAs likely targeted by differentially expressed sperm small RNAs were examined. This analysis highlighted potential modulation of pathways related to learning, estrogen signaling, and hepatic disease, alongside other findings. The findings from this multigenerational inheritance model highlight a potential connection between nicotine-exposed F0 sperm miRNA and variations in F1 offspring phenotypes, specifically impacting memory function, stress responses, and nicotine metabolism.
